Hello all and thanks for visiting our blog!
I first want to start off by thanking those who have donated so far--we really truly can not thank you enough! Breast cancer has been so cruel to so many, we want to stop it-for GOOD! The April newsletter from Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure had the 2009 Report Card and I was so excited to see the results! Fifteen 3-Day events took place last year raising $91 Million for the fight to end breast cancer! Wow--$91 Million! That blows me away. The report card also mentioned that since the beginning of the 3-Day (est. 2003) $500 Million has been raised.
Our fundraising efforts are moving along. We are approaching our first fundraising "event" that will be held on April 24th. The event is a Crop for those who enjoy scrapbooking or paper crafting! We are so very thankful to the VFW Hall for donating that space--that means all monies raised goes right to Susan G Komen 3-Day for the Cure! We are excited about all of the other fundraising events we have in mind. We will keep ya posted!
Kyle and I participated in a 3-Day sponsored training kick-off last Saturday in Roseville @ the new shopping center, The Fountains. We arrived at the New Balance store around 9am. We received our little low-down about walking safety, grabbed a bottle of water and then we were hittin' the pavement/sidewalk! At the kick-off there was about 20 of us that did a 3.8 mile route during the cool and breezy morning. It was a great time! Kyle and I had the opportunity to share with two newbies our past experiences with the 3-Day, they had a lot of questions--as I did the first time I walked! So I always like to share with them and answer questions to settle their nervousness. After the walk Kyle and I went to DSW to see what kind of tennis shoes they had--we are both in dire need of new ones before we get too far into the training schedule. We didn't really find anything we were looking for, so we are gonna try Famous Footwear--they have Buy 1 Get 1 Half off, I like taking advantage of that deal especially on tennis shoes.
Officially, training starts on April 19th (the 24 week schedule)! I can't believe it is here already and boy oh boy am I ready! If you are interested, you can check out the schedule here. It is a suggested schedule so a walker can do as much or as little as they feel like. My goal is to do as much as possible, especially those double digit mile days!
We hope this finds everyone well! As always we will keep you up-to-date about our efforts in fundraising and training. If you would like to donate to either or both of us our links are to the right of this post under our picture.
Thank you again for your support!
