Welcome to our journey!!

Thank you for checking out our brand new blog to share with you our thoughts and experiences regarding the upcoming Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk we will be a part of this year.  We hope you will continue to check in and follow us on our journey for the next several months.

For those unfamiliar with this event, the 3-day walk is a HUGE effort that raises an enormous amount of money toward finding a cure for breast cancer.  Holly and I are a part of the San Francisco rendition of the walk, but similar events are held at 14 other venues across the country each year as well.  Although 2009 numbers have not yet been published, all of the 3-day events held in 2008 brought in a grand total of over $110 million dollars!  Susan G. Komen has been involved in one way or another with every major advancement in the fight against breast cancer thus far.  The reputation of the organization and the fundraising power of the 3-day event make this an extremely worthwhile cause to donate to.

Holly and I are planning on being "walkers" at the event this year.  As walkers, we will be walking about 60 miles over the course of 3 days through the hilly streets of San Francisco this October.  Walkers are required to raise a minimum of $2300 each in order to participate in the walking aspect of the event.  We would appreciate your assistance in helping us reach our donation goals.  One-time donations as well as limited-term monthly donations are accepted.  For more information or to donate to Holly and I, please check out the links on the right sidebar of this page.  You can also check our progress toward reaching our goals by clicking on those same "Donate to Holly" or "Donate to Kyle" links on the right-hand side.

We are looking forward to the event this year.  Last year, we were both crew members who helped serve lunch to the walkers, and the previous year Holly was a walker.  In the future, we are also hoping to be crew members at one of the events in Tampa, FL, as well.  San Francisco makes a great setting for the event.  Check out the view we had from the camp at Crissy Field last year:

Thank you again for taking the time to check out a little bit about our journey toward the 3-day walk this coming October.  We appreciate your interest and would also appreciate if you would consider donating to us this year.  All donations are tax deductible.  Please check back soon for updated posts as we begin our journey to the 3-day walk this fall, including fundraising efforts, training walks, and more.  Take care.
